Job Summary

The City of Port Alberni is seeking a highly skilled Deputy Director of Corporate Services to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our Corporate Services Department, you will provide administrative and organizational support to our Council, committees, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in preparing Council and committee agendas and minutes
  • Attend meetings and provide administrative support
  • Draft bylaws, policies, reports, and other legal documents
  • Assist with elections and referendums
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Corporate Services
Requirements
  • An undergraduate degree in Public Administration or a related field, plus a minimum of three years' related experience
  • Considerable knowledge of parliamentary procedures, the Community Charter, the Local Government Act, the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, and LGMA Records Management practices
  • Considerable experience with and proficiency using the Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment requiring collaboration, commitment, and creativity
  • Demonstrated superior oral and written communication skills, as well as exemplary problem-solving, organizational, and time management abilities
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships
