Diagnostic Imaging Specialist

About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Diagnostic Imaging Specialist. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging services to patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate X-ray equipment to produce diagnostic images of various body parts as requested by physicians.
- Evaluate imaging results for clarity, accuracy, and diagnostic value, ensuring they meet medical requirements.
- Position patients correctly and safely to obtain optimal imaging results while minimizing exposure to radiation.
- Adjust imaging equipment settings based on patient size, medical condition, and imaging requirements.
- Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate interpretation of images.
Patient Care:
- Explain imaging procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and ensure cooperation.
- Monitor patients during procedures to ensure comfort and safety.
- Adhere to infection control protocols and assist patients with mobility, if necessary.
- Recognize and respond to patient emergencies during imaging procedures.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation of procedures performed.
- Schedule and prioritize imaging procedures to ensure efficient workflow.
- Ensure compliance with licensing, accreditation, and regulatory requirements.
Maintenance and Quality Assurance:
- Perform routine maintenance and quality assurance checks on X-ray equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Report equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs as needed.
- Ensure compliance with radiation safety guidelines for patients, staff, and the public.
Professional Development:
- Keep current with advances in radiology technology and techniques through ongoing education and training.
- Maintain active registration and certification as required by the regional regulatory body.
Salary and Benefits:$62,000 - $82,000 per year, depending on experience, plus comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
Requirements:
- Education: Diploma or degree in Radiologic Technology from an accredited institution.
- Certification: Registered and licensed with the relevant regulatory body (e.g., ARRT, CAMRT, or equivalent).
- Experience: Previous experience in a radiology department is preferred.
Skills:
- Proficiency in operating X-ray and imaging equipment.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, radiology procedures, and safety protocols.
- Excellent patient care and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced healthcare environments.
Working Conditions:
- May involve exposure to infectious diseases, bloodborne pathogens, and radiation.
- Requires standing for extended periods and assisting with patient positioning, which may involve physical exertion.
- May include on-call shifts, weekends, and holidays depending on departmental needs.
