Small Ruminant and Camelid Medicine Academic Position
1 day ago
We are seeking an emerging leader in education, scholarship, and research in small ruminant and camelid medicine to contribute to our educational programs in the DVM and postgraduate programs. The selected applicant will develop an active externally funded collaborative clinical research program in areas including infectious, zoonotic, and/or parasitic disease, One Health, vaccinology, and/or diagnostics.
The position plays a vital role in veterinary practice, addressing the health and welfare needs of sheep, goats, and other camelids, which are crucial for global food security and sustainable agriculture. Alberta is the second-largest sheep and lamb producing province in Canada, and the industry has a significant role in livestock industry diversification.
As a faculty member in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, you will have access to cutting-edge core facilities, including biosafety level 2+ laboratories, small ruminant research housing at our Spy Hill campus, and state-of-the-art imaging, genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics core facilities at our Foothills Campus.
This full-time academic position offers an exceptional opportunity to make a meaningful impact on animal and human health through education, research, and service. We invite applications from individuals with a strong track record of research, teaching, and mentorship experience in small ruminant and camelid medicine.
The estimated salary range for this position is between $120,000 and $200,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Benefits include comprehensive health and dental coverage, pension plan, and paid time off.
To be considered for this position, applicants must hold a DVM (or equivalent) degree, Board Certification in Small Ruminant Medicine, and experience with DVM course delivery, content development, and mentorship/supervisory experience at the graduate and undergraduate student level. A PhD or equivalent and postdoctoral research experience in small ruminant research, demonstrated by a track record of peer-reviewed research publications, is required.
