Wood is seeking an experienced Instrumentation and Controls Specialist/Engineer to join our team in Sarnia, ON. As a key member of our Oil, Gas and New Energies Canada team, you will play a critical role in delivering complex projects and supporting the growth of our business.
Our team has a strong presence in the energy transition, supporting the rapidly growing decarbonization and renewables industry in Canada and globally. We are committed to innovation and pushing the boundaries of what is possible to deliver the best solutions for our clients.
This role will work our standard office hybrid work schedule.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure compliance with Engineering Procedures and quality control standards
- Participate in design reviews and HAZOPs as needed
- Conduct site visits as required
- Interface with various engineering disciplines and suppliers
- Project Execution may include:
- Developing datasheets and specifying, selecting, and sizing field instrumentation, control valves, and PSVs
- Preparing and checking installation details
- Preparing and reviewing instrument lists (I/O, instrument index, load lists, etc)
- Developing material take-offs (MTOs)
- Selecting and procuring controls hardware (DCS/PLC/SIS)
- Creating instrument loop diagrams and control cabinet design and wiring
- Conducting squad checks of vendor data and drawings from other disciplines
- Providing input to P&ID development
- Designing, developing, and providing technical content for the I&C portion of project work
- Frequent contact with vendors
- Preparing material requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and award recommendations for various equipment within instrumentation and controls
- Instrumentation Technologist/Engineer from an accredited University or College
- Minimum of 6+ years of industry experience
- Good understanding and familiarity of ASME, TSSA, and CSA codes and directives
- Industry experience in refining, petrochemical, gas processing, and/or midstream facilities
- Ability to problem-solve effectively
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in the use of Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI/Intools) is an asset
- Registration through PEO as a P.ENG or Limited License is an asset
