Key Responsibilities- Diagnostic and Assessment Services
- Utilize advanced diagnostic tools for eye and vision assessment, including visual acuity tests, tonometry, retinoscopy, and imaging techniques.
- Conduct thorough eye exams to assess ocular health and visual function.
- Diagnose ocular diseases, visual conditions, and abnormalities.
- Prescribe medications, vision therapies, corrective lenses, or refer patients to specialists when necessary.
- Prescribe and fit eyeglasses and contact lenses, providing advice on visual aids that best suit the patient's lifestyle and visual needs.
- Manage follow-up adjustments and patient consultations regarding vision correction options.
- Provide immediate care for acute vision problems and ocular emergencies.
- Educate patients on eye health, preventive care, and early detection strategies to prevent vision loss.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Stay informed on the latest research, technology, and practices in optometry and eye care.
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from a School of Optometry Recognized by the College of Optometrists of British Columbia
- Valid license to practice optometry in Canada OR be eligible to obtain a valid license to practice optometry in Canada within a reasonably agreed upon delay.
