Senior Investment Manager

Stonewood Group Inc. is seeking a seasoned Senior Investment Manager to join our Investments Team. As a key contributor, you will be responsible for originating, executing, managing, and exiting investments in emerging Canadian technology firms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the valuation process using standard valuation techniques.
  • Originate transactions, manage portfolio companies, and identify trends and opportunities through personal experience and familiarity with Canadian VC networks.
  • Act as a senior advisor to deal teams on transaction aspects.
  • Be a key resource and mentor to the Investments Team.
  • Liaise with senior management of existing or proposed investments.
  • Negotiate with senior parties, including VC partners and CEOs.
  • Contribute to reporting requirements for the Investments Program.
  • Provide insights into technology and industry trends and emerging market opportunities.
  • Have a solid understanding of Board Director and Board Committee functions, Director and Shareholder rights and liabilities, and other relevant areas.
  • Contribute to the evaluation and development of the Investments Program's strategic plan.
Requirements
  • 7 or more years of work experience in venture capital, including origination, execution, management, and exit of investments.
  • Demonstrated experience in making sound investments in Venture Capital.
  • Demonstrated experience in Tech Investment assessment.
  • Demonstrated deal sourcing and personal Venture Capital networks.
  • Solid Venture Capital financing and structuring expertise.
  • Excellent financial analysis, credit, and modeling skills.
  • Clear understanding of complex contracts and potential legal implications.
  • Solid knowledge of international business practices and international trade.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.
  • Engineering or Science undergraduate degree is an asset.
