Key Responsibilities:- Discuss upholstery fabric, colour and style with customers to ensure their needs are met.
- Provide cost estimates for upholstering furniture or other items, taking into account materials and labour costs.
- Replace worn-out webbing, springs and other furniture parts to ensure the longevity of the piece.
- Lay out, cut, fabricate and install upholstery to create a seamless and professional finish.
- Tack, glue or sew ornamental trim, braids or buttons to add a touch of elegance to the piece.
- Repair furniture frames and refinish wood surfaces to restore the piece to its original glory.
- Operate sewing machines or sew by hand to create intricate designs and patterns.
- Garnish the bottom and the back of a seat with interoven rattan to add a touch of sophistication.
- Attention to detail is essential in this role, as you will be working with intricate designs and patterns.
- Hand-eye co-ordination is also crucial, as you will be operating sewing machines and handling delicate materials.
- 1 to less than 7 months of experience in a related field is preferred.
