About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Furniture Restoration Specialist to join our team at BM Finishing and Upholstery Inc. As an Upholstery Craftsman, you will be responsible for restoring and refinishing furniture to its original glory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Discuss upholstery fabric, colour and style with customers to ensure their vision is brought to life.
  • Provide cost estimates for upholstering furniture or other items, taking into account the level of detail and craftsmanship required.
  • Replace worn-out webbing, springs and other furniture parts to ensure the piece is structurally sound.
  • Lay out, cut, fabricate and install upholstery, paying close attention to detail and quality.
  • Tack, glue or sew ornamental trim, braids or buttons to add a touch of elegance to the piece.
  • Repair furniture frames and refinish wood surfaces to restore the piece to its original beauty.
  • Operate sewing machines or sew by hand to create intricate designs and patterns.
  • Garnish the bottom and the back of a seat with interwoven rattan to add a touch of sophistication.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:

  • Attention to detail is crucial in this role, as you will be working with intricate designs and patterns.
  • Hand-eye coordination is also essential, as you will be operating sewing machines and sewing by hand.

Experience:

  • 1 to less than 7 months of experience in a related field.
