Job Title: Social Worker - Child Protection Specialist

Join the Government of Prince Edward Island as a Social Worker - Child Protection Specialist and contribute to the well-being of children and families in our community.

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Social Worker to join our team in the Department of Social Development and Seniors. As a Social Worker - Child Protection Specialist, you will be responsible for investigating and assessing child protection reports, providing child protection services, and working with families to ensure the safety and well-being of children.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough investigations and assessments of child protection reports to determine the level of risk to children.
  • Develop and implement child protection plans to ensure the safety and well-being of children.
  • Work collaboratively with families, community agencies, and other stakeholders to provide support and services to children and families.
  • Provide education and training to families and community agencies on child protection and family support.
  • Participate in court proceedings and provide expert testimony as required.
Requirements:
  • Master of Social Work degree or Bachelor of Social Work degree with considerable experience.
  • Eligibility for registration with the PEI Social Work Registration Board and delegation under the PEI Child Protection Act.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid PEI driver's license and reliable vehicle.
  • Good previous work and attendance record and acceptable Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check, and Child Protection Record.
