Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Pediatric Intensive Care team at the Health Sciences Centre. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide exceptional patient care and work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to critically ill pediatric patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans that meet the unique needs of each patient.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
  • Participate in rounds and contribute to the development of care plans, ensuring that patients receive comprehensive and coordinated care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure seamless care transitions and optimal patient outcomes.
Requirements
  • Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).
  • Minimum of two years recent acute nursing experience, preferably in a pediatric ICU setting.
  • Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing education program.
  • Successful completion of a post-basic ICU course is preferred.
  • Active participation in professional associations, such as the Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM), is preferred.
  • CPR Training at the Health Care Provider Level is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses.
  • Knowledge of the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA) and its scope of practice.
  • Knowledge of regional, facility, and unit policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of nursing care related to the clinical area.
  • Knowledge of personal health information, protection of persons in care, mental health, workplace hazardous material information system, principles of routine practices, and other legislated acts.
  • Ability to prioritize care for an individual patient or group of patients.
  • Ability to respond to a variety of simultaneous demands.
  • Ability to recognize and pursue self-development opportunities.
  • Ability to perform independently and as a member of the healthcare team.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing situations.
  • Ability to maintain concentration with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to function in a demanding and stressful environment.
  • Proficient with computers, software programs, and applications such as Windows and Word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
