About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join our team at the Municipality of North Cowichan. As a key member of our Engineering department, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of engineering projects across the municipality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and manage engineering projects, ensuring seamless planning and execution
  • Support the Director of Engineering and the Senior Manager, Engineering (Utilities - Water and Sanitary Systems) in their duties
  • Oversee the Municipality's extensive infrastructure networks, including water treatment and distribution systems, sanitary collection and treatment systems, roads, active transportation networks, and drainage and flood protection networks
  • Lead staff in a unionized environment and oversee the work of consultants
  • Communicate effectively with the public, elected officials, other levels of government, and external agencies
Requirements
  • Experience in project management and budget management
  • Technical knowledge and people management skills
  • Ability to lead staff in a unionized environment and oversee the work of consultants
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience building and supporting Indigenous partnerships is an asset
