Job Summary

As a key member of the Otter Co-op team, the Liquor Store Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of our Capilano Liquor Store. This role requires a strong leader who can provide strategic direction, lead, coach, train, motivate, and inspire our team members to deliver exceptional guest service experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily operation and management of the liquor store in accordance with company policies, procedures, and expectations.
  • Provide ongoing written and verbal feedback to the Area Manager.
  • Lead and motivate the team to achieve sales targets and provide a superior guest service experience.
  • Ensure the store's merchandising standards are maintained, and all programs are implemented, measured, and managed.
  • Ensure the store's housekeeping, sanitation, and maintenance schedules/standards are managed and maintained.
  • Directly responsible for ensuring the store adheres to BCLDB operating guidelines and all government regulations in labeling, pricing, sanitation, and food safety.
  • Attend and actively participate in commodity, leadership, and safety meetings.
  • Directly responsible for team member relations, including hiring, training, and development, and performance management.
  • Provide leadership in the areas of Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S).
  • Contribute to the team in living the Corporate Values of Integrity, Community, and Excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • 3-5 years of experience in progressive retail management positions with a proven successful track record.
  • Liquor, retail, and/or guest service background preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the ability to manage computer files efficiently.
  • Solid basic math skills and the ability to read and understand financial reports.
  • Effective interpersonal, leadership, and communications skills.
  • A self-starter with motivation and the ability to work in a busy environment.
  • Effective planning, organization, and time management skills.
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to maintain relationships both internally and externally to support the organization.
  • A valid Serving it Right Certificate is required.
  • This position is based at the Capilano Liquor Store, though it may require occasional travel and work at other locations as business needs arise.
