Senior Financial Operations Lead, Accounts Payable

Job OverviewThis Senior Analyst role is part of our Accounting Operations Team, specifically within the Accounts Payable team. As a key member, you will be responsible for ensuring timely verification and payment of financial transactions, leading the processing of ongoing payment requests, and developing financial initiatives to improve daily operational needs.
Responsibilities- Provide expert guidance and advice on accounts payable activities, including payment/invoice processing, acquisition card program management, and vendor data management.
- Oversee, review, and ensure timely payments of vendor invoices, employee and lender claims, housing subsidies, and lending programs, taxes, rentals, etc.
- Advise on implementing new financial policies, processes, systems, and internal controls.
- Monitor and analyze control gaps (internal control framework) and advise on remedial action, as needed.
- Manage and review several assigned processes performed by analysts, such as federal and provincial online tax payments, lending and subsidy disbursements, and daily cash forecasting.
- Understand and analyze current operational processes, identify non-value-added processes, and map improved processes to recommend specific and meaningful improvements in efficiency.
- Support the Accounts Payable team, Manager, and Director in complying with external audit requirements, maintaining accurate accounting records, and providing reports and explanations to auditors.
- Establish and maintain relationships with clients, leaders, and stakeholders to understand operations and environments, facilitate collaboration, and influence complex business decisions.
- Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, business administration, economics, or commerce.
- Minimum three years of experience in accounts payable.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects in high-stress environments.
- Ability to gather and analyze information, synthesize key elements, and summarize recommendations.
- Initiative to work independently and collaboratively.
- Understanding of financial statements and general accounting principles.
- Knowledge of relevant financial, legislative, and regulatory environments.
- Bilingualism (English & French).
- An estimated salary range of $70,354 to $87,942, based on qualifications and experience.
