Scale Up Recruiting Partners is seeking an experienced Senior Staff Accountant to join our team in Ottawa, Ontario.

As a Senior Staff Accountant, you will play a crucial role in overseeing our accounting operations, mentoring junior staff, and providing high-quality services to our clients. Your key responsibilities will include managing financial transactions, performing tax research, preparing financial statements, communicating with clients, developing financial policies and procedures, delivering advisory services, and contributing to the team's success.

This role is ideal for candidates based in Latin America and offers a flexible remote work environment. Our office is located in Ottawa, Ontario (west end).

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, general ledger transactions, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Assist with month-end closing procedures for clients and manage client relationships from onboarding to tax filings.
  • Analyze financial data to provide recommendations for improving financial performance.
  • Collaborate with other departments and team members to ensure accurate financial reporting and analysis.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff, assigning and reviewing their work as needed.
  • Work on ad-hoc projects related to accounting and make recommendations for process improvements and internal controls.

Your Requirements:

  • Accounting degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in a senior accounting role, preferably with knowledge of Canadian tax regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with QuickBooks Desktop and Online (or similar systems) is essential.
  • Dext experience is an asset.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail, and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Organized, deadline-driven, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and find solutions independently.
  • Interest in learning new software and technologies.

Salary Range: $65,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience.
