Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Corporate Law Clerk to join our team in Toronto. The successful candidate will provide support to our real estate business, Oxford Properties, and will be responsible for a variety of legal and administrative duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a range of legal and administrative tasks, including preparing routine minute book documentation and filing articles and corporate documentation.
  • Assist senior law clerks and lawyers with assigned matters, including complex corporate reviews and due diligence.
  • Develop a strong knowledge and understanding of Oxford's business and establish relationships with the legal, tax, and finance teams.
  • Prepare corporate structure charts and monitor and communicate with senior law clerks and lawyers regarding ongoing corporate filings and requirements.
  • Consult with senior law clerks and lawyers to identify necessary corporate documentation, searches, and filings.
  • Act as a role model and mentor to legal assistants and junior law clerks, fostering a respectful and collaborative learning environment.

Requirements

  • Completion of a law clerk program recognized by the Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario.
  • 5-10 years of related experience gained in a law firm or in-house legal department.
  • A Member in good standing with the Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of relevant corporate statutes.
  • Experience with commercial real estate transactions is an asset.
  • Superior administrative, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Word, Outlook, and corporate databases.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Competent research and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented, hardworking, and self-motivated.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
