The Legal Clinic, a community-based organization funded by Legal Aid Ontario, is seeking a lawyer or paralegal to join its team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for representing low-income clients in areas of clinic law, with a focus on housing and social assistance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality legal representation to clients in a patient, respectful, and empathetic manner.
  • Work collaboratively with a team of dedicated professionals committed to social justice and effective client representation.
  • Develop and implement effective case strategies, including litigation and negotiation.
  • Manage client files and maintain accurate records.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant laws and regulations, and apply this knowledge in practice.

Requirements

  • A practicing lawyer or paralegal licensed by the Law Society of Ontario, with up to 5 years of experience in legal clinic work.
  • Strong litigation and trial experience, with excellent negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work with high-needs clients, and a high degree of computer literacy.
  • Special consideration will be given to candidates with knowledge of CIMS software, fluency in the French language, and residency within the clinic's catchment area.
