Job Title: Bilingual Family Support Worker

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Bilingual Family Support Worker to join our team at The Children's Aid Society of the Districts of Sudbury and Manitoulin. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing intensive and customized services to families in need.

Job Summary:

The Bilingual Family Support Worker will work under the supervision of the Service Supervisor to provide support to families in need. This includes coordinating, facilitating, and managing visits between children and their family members, as well as providing practical assistance, advocacy, and education to enhance family functioning and prevent the admission of children to care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate visits between children and their family members
  • Assess the strengths and challenges of families in relation to parenting skills
  • Develop and implement plans to meet identified goals with the child, family, and internal and external participants
  • Provide support and education to families to enhance parenting skills and prevent the admission of children to care
  • Collaborate with community service providers and stakeholders to ensure the best possible outcomes for children and families
  • Document all contacts with children, families, and service providers, and write reports as required
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated advanced verbal and written communication skills in both English and French
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and Ministry standards
  • Good understanding of the agency's values, service philosophy, and objectives
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Intersectionality, cultural competency, and clinical practice within an anti-oppression framework
  • Clinical knowledge of child maltreatment, child development, attachment, and separation, and family dynamics
  • Demonstrated clinical counseling skills to provide assessment, engagement, and support services to families and children
  • Ability to maintain the appropriate safeguards for the confidentiality of Agency and client information
  • Knowledge and proficient competence of computer software (e.g. Microsoft Office, CPIN)
  • Possess and maintain a valid Class "G" Driver's License and personal insurance coverage with access to a reliable vehicle
  • Provide a negative Vulnerable Sector Check
