Job Title: Front Door Ambassador

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Front Door Ambassador to join our team at Shangri-La Toronto. As a Front Door Ambassador, you will be the first point of contact for our guests and will play a crucial role in creating a memorable and exceptional experience for them.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide Exceptional Service: Deliver 5-star service to guests, ensuring their needs are met and exceeded throughout their stay.
  • Rotate Through Shifts: Work effectively in a fast-paced environment, rotating through shifts at the Front Door, Airport, and Bell services to provide seamless service to guests.
  • Park Vehicles and Assist with Luggage: Safely park vehicles for guests, residents, and visitors, and volunteer to carry luggage for guests checking in or out.
  • Communicate Effectively: Proactively communicate with colleagues to advise of guest arrival or service needs, issues, or concerns.
  • Ensure Compliance: Maintain compliance with hotel policies, standards, and core practices, and ensure the safety of guests and their belongings.
  • Assist the Concierge: Assist the concierge as needed to deliver a legendary customer experience.
  • Maintain Positive Relationships: Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and stay up-to-date on local venues, attractions, and events.
  • Participate in Team Efforts: Participate in team efforts to achieve specific tasks and demonstrate a commitment to teamwork, safe work practices, and open communication.
  • Meet Service Expectations: Meet service expectations proactively, promptly, and professionally, with genuine care and attention to detail.

Requirements:

  • Service Excellence: Demonstrate a warm and friendly presence, with a drive for service excellence and a genuine care for guests.
  • Detail-Oriented: Carefully attend to details in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
  • Functional Competence: Safely lift up to 75 pounds, and have familiarity with 5-star expectations for Front Door, Airport Host, and Bell services.
  • Operational Knowledge: Familiarity with Shangri-La deliverables, service standards, programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Communication: 100% English language proficiency, with other languages a plus.
  • Decision Making: Prioritize tasks, make prompt and reasonable decisions, and effectively manage multiple needs.
  • Problem Solving: Calmly, respectfully, and creatively resolve problems, and maintain a positive attitude in challenging situations.
  • Emotional Maturity: Interact with others in a respectful manner, demonstrating qualities of sincerity, helpfulness, courtesy, and humility.
  • Ethical and Professional Conduct: Fulfill responsibilities with the highest integrity, and maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
  • Technology Proficiency: Competent in all systems used within the department, including Windows-based programs and PDA technology, OPERA, and POS Systems.

Additional Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of previous work experience in a similar capacity within an international world-class hotel of 4 stars or greater.
  • Previous Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts experience is an asset.
  • Valid Ontario Class G Driver's License and clean driver's record required.
  • Knowledge of manual driving is an asset.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.
  • Eligibility to work in Canada is mandatory.
