Aquatic Leader 1

Job Summary:

The City of Burnaby is seeking an Aquatic Leader 1 to assist in the provision of aquatic instructional and recreational programs at Eileen Dailly Pool. As a key member of the team, you will supervise and support the work of lifeguards, instructors, and recreation attendants, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deck supervision and lesson supervision
  • Ensuring pool areas and changeroom areas are clean, safe, and well-maintained
  • Participating in the planning, organization, and promotion of aquatic programs and special events
  • Conducting swimming lessons, lifeguarding, and safety training programs
  • Preparing and maintaining records and reports

Requirements:

  • Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by courses in lifesaving, lifeguarding, aquatics instruction, and pool operation and maintenance
  • Sound related experience, including some supervisory experience
  • Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia
  • Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor, Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructor, National Lifeguard - Pool Award, and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation Certificate - Level C

Working Conditions:

This is a 64-hour bi-weekly position, with a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends. The successful candidate will be required to work effectively and courteously with staff, public, and user groups.
