Aquatic Leadership Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Aquatic Leader 1 to join our team at the City of Burnaby. As an Aquatic Leader 1, you will play a key role in ensuring the provision of high-quality aquatic instructional and recreational programs at Eileen Dailly Pool.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and support the work of lifeguards, instructors, and recreation attendants
  • Lead by example and participate in instructional, lifeguarding, maintenance, custodial, and clerical work
  • Conduct swimming lessons, lifeguarding, and safety training programs for aquatic staff
  • Participate in the planning, organization, and promotion of aquatic programs and special events
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports, and respond to emergencies as needed
Requirements:
  • Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by courses in lifesaving, lifeguarding, aquatics instruction, and pool operation and maintenance
  • Sound related experience, including some supervisory experience
  • Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia
  • Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor, Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructor, National Lifeguard - Pool Award, and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation Certificate - Level C
  • Additional certifications, such as Swim Instructor Trainer, National Lifeguard Instructor, First Aid Instructor, and BCRPA Aquatic Fitness Leader, are an asset
Working Conditions:

This is a 64-hour bi-weekly position (0.80 FTE) with a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends.
