Aquatic Leader 1

Job Summary:

The City of Burnaby is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Aquatic Leader 1 to join our team. As a key member of our aquatic team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, leading by example, and participating in the planning, organization, and promotion of aquatic programs, aquatic fitness programs, and special events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and support the work of lifeguards, instructors, and recreation attendants
  • Conduct swimming lessons, lifeguarding, and safety training programs for aquatic staff
  • Participate in the hiring and evaluation of staff and volunteers
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports
  • Work effectively and courteously with the public, user groups, and staff team

Requirements:

  • Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by courses in lifesaving, lifeguarding, aquatics instruction, and pool operation and maintenance
  • Sound related experience, including some supervisory experience
  • Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia
  • Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor, Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructor, National Lifeguard - Pool Award, and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation Certificate - Level C

Working Conditions:

40 hours weekly, Wednesday to Friday from 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM, Saturday to Sunday from 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
