Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe operation of electrical systems and equipment. This includes carrying out electrical repairs, calibration, and maintenance for all facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, calibrate, and modify electrical power distribution systems.
  • Calibrate production and facility instruments.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, adjust, repair, and install electrical equipment with complex interlocking circuits.
  • Use test instruments to diagnose problems and determine electrical load and power quality.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, calibrate, and modify pneumatic control systems.
  • Compile and maintain information and documentation relevant to building systems.
  • Work with users, facilities staff, and vendors to provide electrical expertise and evaluate system effectiveness.
  • Arrange for contracted services and supervise electrical work.
  • Determine the impact of work and communicate with department management and customers to schedule activities.
  • Ensure all electrical work is completed according to respective codes.
  • Work from blueprints, drawings, and specifications to locate and diagnose trouble in electrical systems or equipment.
  • Follow manufacturer's manuals for tracing complicated circuitry.
  • Improvise temporary alterations to allow continued safe operations.
  • Utilize standard electricians' hand tools and measuring instruments.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices, Standard Operating Procedures, and established safety standards.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 combined with a current Ontario Industrial Electrician and/or Construction and Maintenance Electrician License.
  • At least five years of previous electrical maintenance experience with instrumentation and control experience.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative and self-motivation.
  • Good planning and organizational skills.
