Job Summary

The Electrical Instrumentation Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems and equipment at Apotex facilities. This position requires a high level of technical expertise and attention to detail to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain complex electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical power distribution systems, including complex interlocking circuits.
  • Calibrate production and facility instruments to ensure accurate readings.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical equipment, including PLCs, generators, transformers, and switchgear.
  • Use test instruments to diagnose problems and determine electrical load and power quality.
  • Compile and maintain documentation relevant to building systems, including CMMS and Ontario Hydro Log Book.
  • Work with users, facilities staff, and vendors to provide electrical expertise and evaluate system effectiveness.
  • Arrange for contracted services as required and supervise electrical work.
  • Determine the impact of work and communicate with department management and customers to schedule activities.
  • Ensure all electrical work is completed according to respective codes.
  • Work from blueprints, drawings, and specifications to diagnose trouble in electrical systems or equipment.
  • Follow manufacturer's manuals for tracing complicated circuitry.
  • Improvise temporary alterations to allow continued safe operations.
  • Utilize standard electricians' hand tools, measuring and testing instruments, conduit bender, power hacksaw, and pipe-threader.
  • Perform all work in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices, Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, and established safety standards.
  • Work as a member of a team to achieve outcomes.
  • Perform all work in support of Apotex's Corporate Values of Pride, Accountability, Integrity, and Diligence.
  • Perform all work in accordance with established regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Complete assigned Continuous Improvement projects within required timelines.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 combined with a current Ontario Industrial Electrician and/or Construction and Maintenance Electrician License.
  • At least five years of previous electrical maintenance experience with instrumentation and control experience.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative and self-motivation.
  • Good planning and organizational skills.
