About the Opportunity
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing the full accounting cycle for multiple development projects. Key tasks include:
- Performing timely month-end close and ensuring recording of all pertinent transactions
- Setting up monthly accruals and properly documenting journal entries
- Reviewing and preparing receivables and ensuring timely collections
- Maintaining key schedules for letters of credit, loan amortizations, and other liabilities
- Ensuring all control accounts are reconciled to subsidiary ledgers
- Recording acquisition entries and analyzing joint venture and management agreements
- Monitoring purchase orders and contracts with change orders
- Preparing monthly draw requests and coordinating responses to project monitor inquiries
- Maintaining ongoing analysis of project budgets on a pro forma basis
- Tracking and analyzing joint venture fees
- Recording loan proceeds and ensuring completeness of back-up information
- Managing home closing process and bank loan pay-out
- Reviewing purchasers' files and preparing interim and final closing worksheets
- Coordinating and approval of Statement of Adjustments and posting sales
- Calculating cost of sales allocation on closed units and cost-to-complete accruals
- Preparing cashflow forecast including waterfall distribution
- Reconciling property taxes by unit and calculating purchasers' tax refund
- Facilitating mortgage and construction financing and maintaining schedules
- Managing projects' reporting and financial reports for submission to internal and external partners
- Assisting in compliance reporting to lenders and government
- Monthly filing of projects' HST return and year-end working papers review
About You
- 5+ years in project, development, and construction accounting as a manager
- Experienced with construction draws and project closures
- Worked with small to mid-sized developers
- Proficient in real estate software (e.g., JDE, Newstar, Yardi)
- Supervisory experience
Salary Range
$130,000 - $140,000/year
