JD Sports Canada is seeking a highly skilled Merchandise Planner to join our team in Vancouver. As a key member of our planning and allocations department, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic inventory plans to drive sales and maximize profitability.
Key Responsibilities- Develop annual, seasonal, and monthly merchandise strategies in collaboration with the buying team.
- Create category-level product mixes using historical data, SWOT analysis, and SLT guidance.
- Formulate space and ranging plans for store distribution in conjunction with the buying team.
- Manage inventory within KPIs signed off with the Merchandise Planning Manager.
- Review weekly trading performance and identify issues to be addressed in weekly trading meetings.
- Collaborate with buyers to agree on SKUs and price points for weekly markdown forecasts.
- Propose and agree on actions to recover risk and maximize opportunities with the Senior Planner and Buyer.
- Visit stores regularly to understand performance and create action plans to optimize store performance.
- Manage product allocations to ensure the right stock, right place, right quantities, right stores, and right time.
- Post-secondary education, preferably with a sales or marketing background.
- 3+ years of retail experience.
- 2+ years of merchandise planning experience.
- Possess an innate understanding of inventory management, merchandise planning, and supply chain in a retail environment.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Entrepreneurship – an ability to make decisions and take calculated risks.
- Experience in data analysis and Microsoft Office software, specifically Excel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proactive and goal-oriented individual.
