We are seeking a highly skilled Pension Analyst to join our team at Teck Resources Limited. As a key member of our pension administration team, you will be responsible for the administration of our defined benefit and defined contribution pension arrangements.
Key Responsibilities- Administer Teck's registered defined benefit plans, registered defined contribution plans, supplemental pension plans, and Group Registered Retirement Savings Plans.
- Calculate defined benefit pension entitlements, monthly pension payments, and commuted values.
- Liaise with the Defined Contribution fund holder and plan actuaries.
- Prepare and remit contributions to the defined benefit plans and reconcile pension payments.
- Maintain accurate pension data in the pension software and coordinate accurate software calculation methodology.
- Resolve requirements for pension and retiree-related reports and coordinate production of reports with HRIS or develop them through crystal reports.
- Accountable for the preparation, analysis, and reconciliation of membership data for actuarial valuations of registered defined benefit plans and post-retirement benefit plans.
- Prepare annual information returns for registered pension plans and collaborate with service providers to troubleshoot issues regarding information inflow and outflow of Defined Contribution files.
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Sciences or Mathematics.
- 5 years of relevant senior-level work experience, preferably in the mining industry, an actuarial firm, or a related industry.
- In-depth working knowledge of relevant pension legislation, including the Income Tax Act and Family Law Act.
- Strong analytical and computational skills, especially with Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with additional data management or analysis applications is an asset.
- Ability to learn quickly and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple projects that require multitasking.
- Motivated self-starter, capable of working under minimal direction.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills required, with the ability to communicate effectively in English.
