About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Construction Materials Handler to join our team at D.H.T Countertops & Renovations INC. as an Installation Assistant. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting our installation team with the handling and transportation of construction materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Loading and Unloading: Safely load and unload construction materials from vehicles and equipment.
  • Material Handling: Transport materials to and from job sites, ensuring timely delivery and minimizing delays.
  • Cleanliness and Maintenance: Clean and lubricate cranes and other equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Material Preparation: Mix, pour, and spread materials such as concrete and asphalt as required.
  • Site Cleanliness: Clean up chemical spills and other contaminants, and ensure the site is left in a safe and tidy condition.
  • Site Management: Direct traffic at or near construction sites, ensuring the safety of workers and the general public.
Support for Diverse Groups
  • Accessibility Support: Provide physical accessibility accommodations, such as ramps and elevators, to ensure equal access for all.
  • Visual Accessibility: Provide visual accessibility accommodations, such as braille and screen readers, to support workers with visual impairments.
  • Auditory Accessibility: Provide auditory accessibility accommodations, such as transcription software and teletypewriters, to support workers with hearing impairments.
  • Disability Support: Participate in government or community programs that support persons with disabilities, and provide awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment.
Support for Newcomers and Refugees
  • Settlement Support: Assist with immediate settlement needs, such as housing, transportation, and storage, for newcomers and refugees.
  • Integration Support: Support social and labour market integration, including access to community resources, language training, and skills training.
  • Recruitment Support: Recruit newcomers and refugees who were displaced by conflict or natural disaster, and provide mentorship programs to support their integration.
Support for Youth
  • Youth Employment Support: Participate in government or community programs that support youth employment, and offer on-the-job training tailored to youth.
  • Mentorship Support: Offer mentorship, coaching, and networking opportunities for youth, and provide awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment.
Support for Veterans
  • Veteran Support: Participate in government or community programs that support Veterans, and offer mentorship, coaching, and networking opportunities.
  • Transition Support: Assist with immediate transition needs, such as relocation and housing, and offer workshops and counseling services to support Veterans in their transition to the civilian workforce.
Support for Indigenous People
  • Indigenous Support: Participate in government or community programs that support Indigenous people, and offer mentorship, coaching, and networking opportunities.
  • Cultural Competency: Provide cultural competency training and awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers.
Support for Mature Workers
  • Mature Worker Support: Participate in government or community programs that support mature workers, and apply hiring policies that discourage age discrimination.
  • Phased Retirement: Offer phased retirement options, including flexible or reduced work hours, part-time employment, and project-based or seasonal work.
Support for Visible Minorities
  • Visible Minority Support: Participate in government or community programs that support members of visible minorities, and apply hiring policies that discourage discrimination.
  • Mentorship Support: Offer mentorship programs that pair members of visible minorities with experienced employees, and provide diversity and cross-cultural training to create a welcoming work environment.
