Recreation Specialist

The City of Ottawa's Recreation, Cultural and Facility Services department is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Recreation Specialist to join our team. As a Recreation Specialist, you will be responsible for planning and implementing program content and for the instruction, coaching or coordination of advanced sport programs.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and implement program content for advanced sport programs
- Provide instruction, coaching or coordination of advanced sport programs
- Develop and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders
- Contribute to the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures
- Provide excellent customer service and support to program participants and stakeholders
- Post-secondary education in Recreation or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated teaching experience or equivalent apprenticeship
- Appropriate certification in the relevant recreation/sports program
- Current Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificates
- AODA Customer Service/IASR Training
- Ability to work in a team setting or independently
- Maintain a fun and safe environment
- Excellent interpersonal communication, leadership, organizational and programming skills
- Self-starter
- Flexibility
- Creative
- Enthusiastic
Various language requirements, locations may require English only, French only OR Bilingual competencies. Some positions require English oral, reading, and writing. Some positions required French oral, reading and writing.
Police Record CheckThe successful candidate will be required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa's satisfaction.
