About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Aerospace Materials Engineer to join our team at Bombardier. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for providing technical guidance and expertise in the application, properties, and processing of aircraft materials and hardware.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical engineering guidance to designers, structural engineers, and other stakeholders on the applications, properties, and processing of aircraft materials and hardware.
  • Review and approve engineering drawings, change documentation, certification plans, and release documentation for technical engineering modifications and specifications.
  • Execute various engineering tasks, including the evaluation of different metallic materials, their processes, and limitations.
  • Prepare test plans, analyze results, and write certification reports.
  • Participate in design reviews with internal product development teams and other stakeholders.
  • Review production process documents and recommend approval.
  • Prepare, administer, and approve standard technical engineering practices, procedures, design guidelines, and corporate/site-specific standards.
  • Participate in R&D projects to improve the environmental footprint of Bombardier Aviation.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency through relevant engineering, process, and other capability improvements.
  • Provide technical direction to junior and intermediate team members to accomplish day-to-day tasks.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in an aerospace/military production environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of aerospace materials, including standard hardware and processes used for aircraft manufacture.
  • Knowledge of metallic materials used in the aerospace industry, including aluminum, steel, and titanium, as well as their corrosion behaviors.
  • Familiarity with aerospace and military specifications, such as SAE, AMS, MIL, etc.
  • Proficiency in engineering design principles and reviewing drawings.
  • Able to solve engineering problems in a high-pressure environment and deal with complex issues quickly and independently.
  • Pro-active mindset and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a high sense of commitment.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Catia V5.
  • Familiarity with environmental norms (REACH).
