Job Summary

Trans Mountain is seeking a skilled Instrumentation Technician to provide operational support in a multi-skilled work environment that promotes public safety, environmental stewardship, and pipeline integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain process instrumentation, communication networks, and control equipment, including flow computers, tank gauging systems, custody transfer metering, and associated equipment.
  • Utilize electrical/instrument drawings sets and associated schematics, update as-built drawings.
  • Support programming and troubleshooting of HMI (Human Machine Interface) and Programmable Logic Controllers.
  • Provide instrumentation support and maintenance to ensure system reliability.
  • Analyze, interpret, and utilize the information contained in SCADA, LOI displays, and P&ID drawings to ensure the safe operation of facilities.
  • Support Emergency Response initiatives and be required to take training in these areas.
  • Provide Operational support to ensure throughput and system reliability.
  • Contractor oversight.

Requirements:

  • High School completion.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a related field.
  • Journeyman Instrumentation Certificate - Interprovincial Standard (IP) is required.
  • Journeyman Electrician Red Seal Certificate would be an asset.
  • Understanding of Canadian Electrical Code requirements, Process Control, and Hydro Test fundamentals are required.
  • Commissioning and Start-Up experience would be an asset.
  • Maintain a high regard for personal safety, safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.
  • Availability to be on call as part of an on-call rotation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude.
  • Self-motivated, capable of performing tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail is critical.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle strict deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
