Job Title: Instrumentation Technician

Trans Mountain is seeking a skilled Instrumentation Technician to join our team. As an Instrumentation Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our pipeline system.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, calibrate, and maintain process instrumentation, communication networks, and control equipment.
  • Utilize electrical/instrument drawings sets and associated schematics to update as-built drawings.
  • Support programming and troubleshooting of HMI and Programmable Logic Controllers.
  • Provide instrumentation support and maintenance to ensure system reliability.
  • Analyze and interpret information contained in SCADA, LOI displays, and P&ID drawings to ensure safe operation of facilities.
  • Support Emergency Response initiatives and participate in training.
  • Provide Operational support to ensure throughput and system reliability.
Requirements:
  • High School completion.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a related field.
  • Journeyman Instrumentation Certificate - Interprovincial Standard (IP) is required.
  • Journeyman Electrician Red Seal Certificate would be an asset.
  • Understanding of Canadian Electrical Code requirements, Process Control, and Hydro Test fundamentals are required.
  • Commissioning and Start-Up experience would be an asset.
  • Maintain a high regard for personal safety, safety of company assets, and employees, and the general public.
  • Availability to be on call as part of an on-call rotation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude.
  • Self-motivated, capable of performing tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail is critical.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle strict deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
About Trans Mountain

Trans Mountain is a federal Crown corporation that operates Canada's only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast.
