About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Culinary Team Member to join our team at Pickering Casino Resort. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook menu items to order, adhering to menu specifications and ingredients.
  • Ensure a high caliber of food service for guests, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.
  • Evaluate kitchen procedures and processes, making recommendations for improvement as needed.
  • Direct the line and be accountable for the success of each shift, working co-operatively with other kitchen personnel.
  • Prepare salads, sandwiches, dressings, sauces, vegetables, fruits, and other food items in accordance with specific recipes.
  • Reheat soups, crock pots, and gravy as required, maintaining accurate temperature logs.
  • Control food waste and spoilage, restocking items as needed.
  • Clean and sanitize workstation before and after food preparation, inspecting work areas daily for hazards and/or defective equipment.
  • Comply with all health and safety requirements, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Report all injuries, accidents, and unusual conditions to the Chef de Partie immediately.
Requirements
  • Post-Secondary Education in a related field.
  • Minimum three (3) years of kitchen experience, with one (1) year in a casino environment.
  • Completion of Safe Food Handling course or Safe Food Handler Certificate.
  • Supervisory experience an asset.
  • Strong knife handling skills, knowledge of HACCP, and Smart Serve Certification.
  • Ability to multi-task and excel in a fast-paced environment, with strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to perform tasks effectively and safely within prescribed time limits, maintaining a positive working relationship with fellow employees and management.
