Job Summary

Scotiabank is seeking a skilled Credit Analyst to join our Lending Services department in Canada. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the success of our business strategies and objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to loan growth and profitability by analyzing customer loan applications, determining customer affordability, and performing structured and analytic functions on loan applications.
  • Ensure sound and timely due diligence in loan underwriting by investigating, evaluating, and documenting customer loan applications.
  • Develop recommendations for loan applications and analyze, process, and recommend loan amendments or pricing concessions requests from dealers.
  • Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of your respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk, and conduct risk.
  • Champion a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates your team by fostering an inclusive work environment, communicating vision/values/business strategy, and managing succession and development planning for the team.

Requirements

  • Direct experience in prime or non-prime financing adjudication preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in credit analysis.
  • Functional knowledge of MS Word, Excel, credit decisioning, and loan application software.

Working Conditions

  • Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are not a common occurrence.
  • Operating hours (you will be scheduled within these times): Monday - Thursday 7:30am to 11:00pm EST, Friday 7:30am - 9:00pm EST, Saturday 9:00am - 8:00pm EST, Sunday 10:00am - 7:00pm EST.
  • Pursuant to a language needs assessment conducted by Scotiabank, the successful candidate will be required to be able to communicate in English & French because they will serve English-speaking clientele.
