Job Summary:

The Payroll and Benefits Coordinator will be responsible for the complete process of payroll for salaried, unionized, and retired employees for western and eastern operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process payroll for all salaried, unionized, and retired employees, ensuring compliance with collective agreements and procedures.
  • Track statutory holidays, anniversaries, and holidays for unionized employees, ensuring up-to-date registers and compliance with collective agreements.
  • Perform bank transfers and requests for payments, including taxes, union dues, and garnishments.
  • Produce job records for salaried employees, unionized employees, and retirees, as well as students and interns hired during the summer period.
  • Act as a resource person for payroll operations and support managers with payroll transactions.
  • Process government remittances, including records of employment and T4s, and balance government remittances.
  • Participate in the end-of-year process and prepare payroll-related reports, including grievances claims, hours worked and paid, overtime, and absenteeism.
Requirements:
  • College diploma in Administration, Management of Human Resources, or Accounting.
  • Accreditation to the Canadian Payroll Association is an asset.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in a similar position in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in a unionized environment, with the ability to interpret collective agreements.
  • Bilingualism (French and English) is required.
  • Knowledge of pay and provincial legislations, as well as software such as Word, Excel, Kronos, and Dimensions.
  • Analytical and detail-oriented, with excellent problem-solving skills and a sense of teamwork and interpersonal skills.
