About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Lumber Procurement Specialist to join our team in Ontario or Quebec, offering flexible work locations. This is a permanent full-time position that comes with a competitive annual salary and excellent benefits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate lumber market conditions based on industry indicators and conduct daily inventory analysis to ensure fill rates for multiple plants receiving products from various mills.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with suppliers, analyze annual supply proposals, and negotiate pricing and terms beneficial to Doman.
  • Purchase required products, schedule replenishment cycles, and coordinate delivery of products to expected locations.
  • IDentify products to be transferred between branches instead of purchasing from suppliers, manage claims and returns for defective stock, and review purchasing and inventory levels.
Requirements
  • A minimum three years of purchasing experience, with knowledge of commodity lumber and logistics including shipping via truck and rail, demurrage.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, aptitude for details, and numerical calculations.
  • Familiarity with MS Office and ability to quickly learn other applications, preferably JD Edwards and QlikView.
  • Excellent English communication skills displaying professionalism, good business acumen, and strong business ethics.
