Manufacturing Engineer Co-op Student

About the Role
MDA Space is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineering Co-op Student to join our team. As a Co-op Student, you will have the opportunity to work alongside our experienced Manufacturing Engineers and contribute to the development of our manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate manufacturing methods and processes to determine the most efficient and safe way to produce and test products.
- Support the activities related to the new MDA Space building, including evaluating space requirements and equipment layout.
- Contribute to the product and process quality by setting up and assisting with testing methods and equipment, and establishing standards.
- Participate in product development meetings and assist with implementing recommendations for product design changes to enhance manufacturing and assembly.
- Support standardization initiatives, such as implementing 5S practices and streamlining processes through documentation and lean optimization.
Requirements
- General Manufacturing Engineering skills typical of a first/second/third year college student or related field experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with a strong emphasis on Excel.
- Knowledge or understanding of MRP systems, lean principles, design for manufacture, and design for assembly processes.
- Experience or knowledge of production and test layout design, including ergonomics and safety.
- Strong planning capabilities, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work under time constraints and independently on assigned tasks.
Security Clearance
Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
