Job Title: Shift Maintenance Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Shift Maintenance Engineer to join our team at pladis Foods Limited. As a Shift Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical engineering support to the production function, ensuring the efficient operation of our manufacturing equipment, and contributing to the achievement of our factory's goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out proactive maintenance, reactive breakdowns, fault finding, and continuous improvement of plant performance, while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Take ownership for continuous improvement of a specific area using good manufacturing and engineering practices.
  • Train, assess competencies, mentor, and support ATMs, Apprentices, and Team Members with the development of engineering skills.
  • Input into team action plans and continuous improvement activities, especially OEE, Condition-Based Monitoring, Tiered meetings, focused improvement, and workplace organization.
  • Manage and recommend improvements to maintenance schedules, overhaul and repair of plant, and complete stores requisitions for parts and contract services.
  • Continually supervise plant conditions and report defects, deliver a consistent and improving plant reliability through the effective management and monitoring of downtime, PPM conformance, engineering planning, and use of SAP PM.
  • Report and present all performance matters routinely, including trends and breakdown/fault data.
  • Be a role model as the team champions of good engineering standards, carry out safety checks on equipment in line with legislation and standard methodology, and report plant performance using appropriate company systems.
  • Manage engineering duties and tasks across the factory as deemed vital and suitable to reduce idle time, and consider and apply sustainability, waste minimization, and energy consumption where appropriate.
Requirements:
  • Electrical Automation skills with Mechanical experience, sophisticated PLC skills, fault finding skills, data analysis and interpretation skills, risk assessment trained, ability to train effectively, technical report writing ability, full understanding of safe working practices and relevant legislation, numerical ability, literacy, dexterity, ability to follow instructions, accuracy/attention to detail, knowledge of COSHH, basic PC skills, problem-solving techniques, and influencing skills.
  • Desirable: Permit to work trained, knowledge of Packaging Machinery (Installation and/or Maintenance), previous experience of working within the food industry, previous experience of issuing Permits to Work.
Work Patterns:

You will be working on a Pitman Shift pattern, with a mixture of day and night shifts every week, and every other weekend off. Flexibility of working hours as required for training, project work, or to facilitate cross-shift initiatives.

From time to time, it may be vital in performing your duties and responsibilities to work additional hours up to an average of a 48-hour week in a 17-week reference period.
