Job Title: Electrical Protection Engineer

CIMA+ is a leading provider of electrical engineering services in Canada, with a strong presence in Eastern and Western Canada. We are currently seeking an experienced Electrical Protection Engineer to join our team in Alberta.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing electrical protection and control systems for our clients. This will involve working with our engineering team to create detailed designs, specifications, and plans for electrical systems, as well as collaborating with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design and develop electrical protection and control systems using 2D software (AutoCAD).
  2. Prepare project deliverables, including detail drawings, electrical diagrams, layouts, equipment sizing, and specifications.
  3. Collaborate with members of the engineering team and project managers to ensure successful project delivery.
  4. Participate in the development of electrical command and protection systems, including single-line diagrams, logic diagrams, three-line AC diagrams, protection and DC control diagrams, wiring drawings, device connection drawings, assembly plans, material lists, and quotes for the manufacturing and installation of control and protection panels.
  5. Participate in the development of AC and DC power systems, including single-line diagrams, AC & DC load calculations, AC & DC distribution diagrams, connection drawings of chargers, batteries, inverter, etc.
  6. Participate in site surveys (stations and power stations).
  7. Coordinate with engineering disciplines: equipment, civil, mechanical, and building to develop design solutions for optimized and advanced substation and power plant systems.
  8. Possibility of carrying out site work sporadically when the opportunity arises (start-up or monitoring).
Requirements
  1. University Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  2. Registered (or eligible to register as) member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) or that of a recognized Professional Engineering Association in Canada.
  3. More than 4 years of relevant experience.
  4. Knowledge of protection and control principles and philosophies is mandatory.
  5. Work experience in the design of electrical systems is an asset.
  6. Experience in detailed P&C design with major and/or local utilities, an asset.
  7. Experience using AutoCAD software is an asset.
  8. Fluent in English (oral and written).
  9. Basic knowledge of the office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  10. Autonomous, resourceful, and enjoys teamwork.

The expected salary for this position is from $75,000 to $105,000 based on the richness and diversity of the candidate's experience, training, skills, and internal equity. The position or associated salary could vary depending on the profile of the candidate.
