About the RoleWe are seeking a skilled and dedicated Child Protection Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will work closely with children, families, and community members to provide fair, respectful, and culturally relevant services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides ongoing child protection services to children and their families, including investigation and assessment of allegations of child abuse and/or maltreatment.
- Develops links with relevant communities to explore service options and strategies to address issues affecting First Nations children and families.
- Participates in crisis situations, assesses risk to children, and determines necessary action, including alternative placement.
- Advocates on behalf of children and families for support services within the community.
- Celebrates the cultural diversity and resilience of our clients.
- Works collaboratively as part of a dynamic team to achieve departmental and team service objectives.

Requirements:
- Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous child welfare experience within First Nations communities or 2 years of social service experience.
- Completion of OACAS New Worker Training Modules preferred.
- Valid Ontario 'G' driver's license, willingness to travel, ability to work flexible hours, and provide on-call services when required.
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- Ability to speak a native language considered a major asset.
