Child and Youth Care Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Child and Youth Care Specialist to join our team at Kunuwanimano Child and Family Services.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement culturally sensitive programs for children and youth, including recreational, social, and educational activities.
- Provide case management services to support the needs of children and youth, including crisis intervention, dispute resolution, and supportive interventions.
- Monitor progress and cultural needs of children and youth, providing individualized support as needed.
- Provide information, referrals, and follow-up services to families and caregivers.
- Support life skills development, goal planning, and educational readiness for children and youth.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files, adhering to established timelines and providing written reports as requested.

What We Offer- A competitive salary range of $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.

- Diploma in Child and Youth Work or Social Services, or equivalent.
- A minimum of three years' experience working within a social services context, preferably with Indigenous families.
- Sound understanding of harm reduction, addictions, mental health, Indigenous healing practices, developmental issues, and high-risk situations faced by children and youth.
- Ability to advocate within systems that impact Indigenous families.
- Knowledge of local community agencies and professional services available.
- Willingness to support traditional and contemporary healing practices and collaborate with Elders, Healers, and contemporary helpers.
- Experience in counselling, case management, file maintenance, and statistical reporting.
- Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- A valid 'G' Ontario driver's license and ability to travel.
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
