About the Role
The Character Artist is a vital position in the creation of top-tier video games at Electronic Arts. This role involves crafting the cast of characters that inhabit the game universe, requiring a dynamic and efficient modeler with sculpting and texturing skills. Our ideal candidate will be able to create outstanding content with an imagination that is constantly in motion, using scan data, photo references, or traditional 3D means.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop high-fidelity 3D models and textures for characters, including hair, clothing, and accessories.
- Work with content-driven game engines, such as Unreal, Frostbite, or Unity, to ensure seamless integration.
- Collaborate with the project Development Manager or Development Director to meet project goals and deadlines.
Requirements
- 3+ years of industry experience in character creation production.
- Proficiency in Maya, Z-Brush, and Photoshop, as well as experience with PBR texture/material workflows.
- Ability to work with limited reference material/concept art and visualize in three dimensions.
- Experience in creating game resolution topology with considerations for deformation and rigging.
- Knowledge of cloth and clothing creation, matching character style, and high-fidelity 3D modeling/sculpting techniques.
Portfolio Requirements
- Photo-real character modeling and texturing, including UV layout and all maps.
- Concept to model experience is a plus.
