About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Surgical Services team at Fraser Health Authority. As a key member of our interprofessional care team, you will provide direct patient care, assess patients, and develop care plans to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Assess patients and collect information from various sources to inform nursing diagnoses and develop care plans.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and caregivers to develop and implement care plans that promote person-centered care.
  • Provide direct patient care, including administering medications, performing procedures, and monitoring patient responses.
  • Participate in the care and discharge planning process, ensuring seamless transitions and effective communication with the interprofessional care team.
  • Coordinate nursing care, prioritize tasks, and delegate responsibilities to support staff as needed.
  • Perform non-invasive diagnostic tests, such as ankle-brachial indexes and transcutaneous oxygen measurement, and interpret results to inform patient care.
  • Teach patients and families about illness prevention, health restoration, and health maintenance to promote self-care and independence.
  • Document assessments, nursing diagnoses, interventions, and patient responses according to practice standards and Fraser Health procedures.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Ability to complete initial and ongoing patient assessment, provide nursing care, and communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers.
  • Ability to promote person-centered care, integrate and evaluate data from multiple sources, and problem-solve effectively.
  • Ability to teach and instruct patients and families about topics essential to their health care and well-being.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work, collaborate with the interprofessional care team, and use factual information to support nursing decisions and actions.
