We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team in Ottawa, ON. As a senior accountant, you will play a key role in the planning and execution of audit and tax engagements.

About the Role

This full-time position offers a competitive salary range of $75,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition to a generous salary, we also offer:

You will have the opportunity to utilize your accounting expertise while working on exciting and varied engagements with local entrepreneurs. To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • At least 3 years of experience as an accountant in a public accounting firm
  • Professional Accounting Designation (CPA)
  • Experience in Caseware/Caseview, Taxprep, MS Word, and Excel software
  • Strong knowledge of assurance and accounting standards
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills (bilingualism is considered an asset)

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Taking an active role in the planning of engagements
  • Conducting large audit and review engagements, designing and modifying audit procedures
  • Supervising junior staff and preparing engagement working papers, financial statements, and client correspondence
  • Discussing financial statements and engagement issues with appropriate managers
  • Managing engagements from start to completion, consulting directly with clients
  • Participating in tax planning for corporate engagements and preparing corporate tax returns
  • Understanding clients' operations and industry to gain insight into the scope of services
