Role Overview
The successful incumbent will meet the requirements of the position description for "Registered Nurse" and act as a team member with specific responsibility for performance of professional nursing care to a patient or group of patients as assigned and according to the standards of the College of Nurses.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Currently registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Possess B.C.L.S
- Successful completion of Coronary Care One course or within 6 months
- Competency to perform added nursing skills as required
- Ability to work in an active, rapidly changing, stressful environment with multiple demands
- Ability to make decisions and prioritize effectively
- Ability to focus on complex instructions and tasks in an environment with many distractions
- Ability to function as a team member and maintain good interpersonal relations while performing duties
- Physical ability to lift, pull, push, carry, reach and physically support patients with assistance, as required
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time with repetitive bending.
- Follows safe and healthy work practices and maintains a safe and healthy work environment through attendance at educational programs, training in Smart Moves program, use of established reporting mechanisms for injuries, illness and hazards and adherence to health and safety related policies and procedures
- Willingness to obtain a minimum of Coronary Care 1 within the first 6 months of employment
Assets
- Preference will be given to applicants with 2 or more years of medical/surgical/acute experience
Employment Requirements
Successful applicants are required to provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal reference check, that was complete less than one year from the date of hire. This requirement must be met within the first sixty (60) days of employment.
Additionally to the above, successful applicants are also required to complete the Health Care Worker Health review process which includes providing an up-to-date immunization record to ensure compliance with the Ontario Hospital Association Communicable Diseases Surveillance Protocols within the first thirty (60) days of employment. Northumberland Hills Hospital operates a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all staff.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, Northumberland Hills Hospital may choose to conduct parts/all the hiring process virtually. The successful incumbent should expect the role to be in person however a hybrid working arrangement may also be considered subject to operational needs. Furthermore, we are a scent-free environment.
