About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Paramedic Advancement Specialist to join our team at Alberta Health Services. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to work in a demanding environment, assessing emergency scenes and patients, and providing critical care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess emergency scenes and patients, and provide advanced life support (ALS) as needed
  • Transport ill or injured patients from emergency scenes and between facilities, operating ambulances or other modes of transportation
  • Treat patients by administering medications, airway adjuncts, and electrical therapy
  • Lead ALS crews in delivering clinical care during patient transport or at emergency scenes

Working Conditions:

The working environment for this position is physically demanding and includes exposure to various weather conditions, hazardous and graphic scenes, and direct exposure to bodily fluids. You must be able to endure frequent lifting and carrying of up to 105lbs, standing and sitting for extended periods, bending, twisting, and assuming awkward positions.

Requirements:

  • Non-restricted registration in good standing with the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACOP) as an Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP)
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification
  • Able to obtain a valid class 4 Alberta Operator License or equivalent, with a clean driver abstract
  • Successful completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (FARE)

Estimated Salary: $85,000 - $115,000 per year, depending on experience
