Housing & Shelter Support Worker

Our Place Society is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Housing & Shelter Support Worker to join our team. As a key member of our support team, you will play a vital role in providing assistance and guidance to individuals in need of housing and shelter services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized support and counseling to clients, helping them to identify and address their problems, needs, and risks.
  • Develop and implement short-term intervention plans to address specific issues and concerns.
  • Assist with the development and delivery of resident support plans, working collaboratively with the support team and site supervisor.
  • Participate in the setup and maintenance of shelter facilities, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for clients.
  • Assist with referrals to other community service providers and resources, as needed.
  • Use non-violent crisis intervention techniques and harm reduction approaches to support clients.
  • Collaborate with partner agencies and professionals to provide comprehensive support services.
Requirements:
  • Diploma in a related human/social service field.
  • Training and experience in non-violent crisis intervention techniques and harm reduction approaches.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues, both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of community resources and ability to navigate stairs and be on feet for up to 6 hours of shift.
