Pacifica Housing, a leading provider of safe and affordable homes, seeks a skilled Encampment and Community Outreach Worker to join our team.
Job OverviewThis role is part of our Downtown Outreach Housing Resource Services (DOHRS) team, working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary group to provide outreach, assessment, placement, and advocacy to homeless individuals residing in encampments within the municipality of Greater Victoria.
Responsibilities- Provide assessment, placement, and advocacy services for encampment clients, including connecting them to essential services and stable housing.
- Liaise with the Housing Action Response Team (H.A.R.T) to identify homeless individuals and connect them to resources.
- Work with community members, agencies, landlords, and identified clients to develop and maintain relationships.
- Perform administrative duties, attend professional development functions, and participate in program and policy assessments.
- Diploma in Social Work or Psychology, or equivalent qualifications in Counselling, Mental Health, or Addictions.
- Minimum one year recent related experience, with conflict resolution/crisis prevention training and experience required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of addiction, mental health, homelessness, and poverty impacts, as well as ability to work with individuals with multiple barriers to stable housing.
Pacifica Housing offers a competitive salary ($27.39-$29.69/hour), excellent benefits package, minimum six percent vacation accrual rate, career development opportunities, and a robust team building environment.
