Registered Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Surgical Services team at Fraser Health Authority. As a key member of our interprofessional care team, you will provide direct nursing care to patients recovering from anaesthetics in the Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU).
Key Responsibilities- Assess post-anaesthetic patients, collecting and evaluating information from various sources to determine their condition and develop a nursing plan.
- Provide nursing care to address critical care needs, following physicians' and anaesthetists' orders and established hospital policies.
- Communicate effectively with the interprofessional care team, including physicians, licensed practical nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Coordinate nursing care, setting priorities, assigning tasks, and making referrals as needed.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment, adhering to sound bacteriological and preventative medicine principles.
- Establish a therapeutic relationship with patients, advocating for their rights and promoting person-centered care.
- Document assessments, nursing diagnoses, interventions, and patient outcomes according to practice standards and Fraser Health procedures.
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing and current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- One year's recent relevant clinical nursing experience in the designated clinical area and completion of post-graduate coursework and/or certification applicable to the designated clinical area.
- Clinical proficiency in the designated clinical area, including proficiency in initiating and maintaining intravenous therapy.
- Ability to complete initial and ongoing patient assessment and apply nursing theory and expertise to provide nursing care.
- Ability to recognize acuity changes and determine emergency situations.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians and other personnel.
