Job Description: The Registered Nurse provides direct patient care by assessing, planning, providing, and evaluating nursing care to patients in the Emergency Department. Key responsibilities include: • Assessing patients and collecting information from various sources to make informed nursing diagnoses and develop effective care plans • Collaborating with patients and their families/caregivers to develop and implement care plans that promote patient autonomy and dignity • Participating in the care and discharge planning process, ensuring comprehensive care planning and delivery • Coordinating nursing care, prioritizing tasks, and delegating responsibilities to support staff • Collaborating with the interprofessional care team to identify and resolve issues, adjust care plans as needed, and address changes in patient condition • Teaching patients and families/caregivers about illness prevention, health restoration, and health maintenance to support patient self-care and discharge planning • Documenting assessments, nursing diagnoses, observations, interventions, patient/family responses, outcomes/evaluations, and referrals according to practice standards and Fraser Health procedures Qualifications: • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) • Completion of applicable post-graduate coursework in emergency nursing or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in emergency nursing • Ability to complete initial and ongoing patient assessment, provide nursing care, and communicate effectively with patients, families/caregivers, and the interprofessional care team • Ability to promote person-centered care, integrate and evaluate data from multiple sources, and teach patients and families/caregivers about essential health care topics • Ability to organize and prioritize work, collaborate with the interprofessional care team, and use factual information and research-based evidence to support nursing decisions and actions About Fraser Health: Fraser Health is a leading healthcare provider in British Columbia, serving a diverse population of over two million people in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley.
