Business Development Specialist

Our specialists provide cross-analytical solutions for various sectors, including Environmental, Energy, Mining, Transportation, Industrial, Agri-food, and Life Sciences.
Job Summary:We are seeking an experienced Business Development Representative to join our Calgary Environmental division. As a key member of our team, you will focus on developing solutions to clients' business needs and creating long-lasting relationships through account management and growth.
Responsibilities:- Solicit new business opportunities for AGAT Laboratories and identify sales opportunities to improve our position.
- Maintain strong relationships with our current customer base.
- Implement account and/or category specific sales and marketing initiatives.
- Develop and execute annual business and territory plans for assigned territories; achieve annual budget for sales.
- Develop a "face to face" customer call cycle; exceed customer expectations.
- Attend educational workshops; be involved with professional associations and attend tradeshows.
- Monitor competitive market activity.
- Perform administrative duties where necessary.
- BSc degree in Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum two years of experience in a sales and/or customer service front-facing position.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record, willing to travel.
- Knowledge of lab testing would be an asset.
- Professional, positive, and outgoing demeanor.
- Excellent relationship building skills.
- Public speaking skills.
- Strong analytical, planning, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, communication skills.
- Proficient with standard office computer tech; Microsoft Office.
- Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
